Strategy Consultant - Intern

PhD (Expected '25)

Swarup Mishra is a PhD student in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, passionate about uncovering the mechanisms of ketogenesis-driven longevity. Swarup will be interning at Juniper Life Sciences this summer, bringing with him robust research and teaching experience.

During his doctoral studies, Swarup worked extensively with three model organisms, collaborating with his PI to secure NIH funding for the lab (4th percentile). He co-authored a paper in Current Biology that discovered the role of alcohol dehydrogenases in longevity and obesity reduction. He was also awarded the competitive Double Hoo Research Scholarship to mentor an undergraduate researcher.

Swarup has three years of experience teaching undergraduates and pre-med students, covering topics from anatomy and physiology to functional genomics. His teaching emphasizes data visualization and encourages students to think independently as scientists.

Swarup is deeply interested in disease mechanisms and the effects of drugs, always seeking to translate basic science into real-world impact.

He was born and raised in Bhubaneswar, India, and outside of science, enjoys singing Indian classical music, hiking, traveling, and cooking regional recipes.
